On The 2nd Amendment - Don't Believe Obama
During the primaries, Obama tried to hide behind vague statements of
support for “sportsmen” or unfounded claims of general support for the
right to keep and bear arms. But his real record, based on votes taken, political associations, and
long standing positions, shows that Barack Obama is a serious threat to
Second Amendment liberties. Don’t listen to his campaign rhetoric! Look
instead to what he has said and done during his entire political career. Learn More...

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service's Service Regulations Committee met yesterday with consultants for the Flyway Councils to begin deliberations on the waterfowl hunting regulations for the upcoming fall season. Among a number of key issues addressed by the Regulations Committee this year was a harvest strategy for scaup. "Hunters are among the nation's foremost conservationists - they give back far more than they take," said Service Director H. Dale Hall. "As sustainable hunting is the cornerstone of wildlife management, we must prepare to take action to conserve declining scaup populations to ensure we can provide hunting opportunities in future seasons. We are proud to have adopted a strategy to ensure harvest regulations are in concert with the status of scaup populations." Work on a scaup harvest strategy has been ongoing for 5 years. In 2006 Director H. Dale Hall and the Service Regulations Committee gave the Service and Flyway Councils one additional year to develop a scaup harvest strategy. The strategy was prepared in time to consider for the 2007 season, but an additional year was provided for biologists, administrators and hunters to become familiar with the strategy and to prepare for implementation. The harvest strategy will be used by managers to determine the appropriate bag limits and season lengths in relation to the current population size. |

WOW! That is the best way I can sum up the experience I had while visiting the Cabela's store in Hazelwood, MO. If you have never visited one of the Cabela's stores, you are missing quite the experience. I don't know if they all have the same displays, but the one in Hazelwood is incredible. Not only does the store have everything an outdoor enthusiast would want, I can't get out of the store without spending a couple of hundred bucks, it has some of the best wildlife displays I have ever seen. Oh, and did I mention they have a huge series of aquariums with some of the largest game fish I have ever seen? Truly spectacular. Here are some of the photos I took. SPRINGFIELD – Governor Rod R. Blagojevich today signed legislation expanding eligibility in Illinois’ Apprentice Hunter License Program to out of state hunters. The Illinois Apprentice Hunter License Program grants limited hunting privileges to residents – and now non-residents – of the state interested in trying hunting, before buying a regular Illinois hunting license. House Bill 2825, sponsored by Representative Mark Beaubien, Jr. (R-Wauconda) and Sen. J. Bradley Burzynski (R-Sycamore), unanimously passed both the House (108-0-0) and the Senate (58-0-0).
“The Apprentice Hunter Program allows people who may not otherwise get a chance to hunt to participate in a safe and fun way with an experienced, licensed hunter,” said Governor Blagojevich. “Now, people of all ages from out of state can enjoy what Illinois has to offer.” The Apprentice Hunter License Program was signed into law by Governor Blagojevich in July 2006. This program allows youth, ages 10-17, to hunt when supervised by an Illinois licensed parent, guardian or grandparent before purchasing a traditional hunting license and allows apprentice licensees aged 18 or older to join any licensed Illinois hunter. The expansion allows non-residents to take advantage of these same opportunities. The program has a $7 fee which is paid to the Wildlife and Fish Fund, which supports the activities of the Department of Natural Resources. |

Did you know that Senator Barack Obama wants to bring back the Clinton Gun Ban? Did you know that he supports gun bans in Chicago; Washington, D.C.; and elsewhere? Did you know Barack Obama is opposed to Right-to-Carry?
All of these things are true, and they're just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Obama's long anti-gun record.
NRA-ILA has put together a fact sheet, complete with citations that you can use to educate yourself and others on Senator Obama's rejection of the Second Amendment. It's vitally important that every gun owner knows the truth about Obama's position, and I want you to spread the word. Can you imagine the havoc that anti-gunners could impose on the United States with an anti-gun president and stalwart allies controlling both chambers of Congress? |

Illinois Department of Natural Resources donates 7,000 trout to Iowa DNR TOPEKA , ILL. – The Illinois Department of Natural Resources (IDNR) has joined the effort to assist fisheries personnel in neighboring Iowa in recovering from damage to that state’s fish hatcheries caused by record-setting flooding in June. The Illinois DNR Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery has provided 7,000 seven-inch trout to the Iowa Department of Natural Resources to help replace trout lost when flooding damaged two Iowa hatcheries where trout were being raised. “We are pleased to help our colleagues in Iowa – and the anglers who will ultimately benefit,” said Steve Krueger, manager of the Illinois DNR Jake Wolf Memorial Fish Hatchery, located in Topeka in Mason Co. |

Did You Know?
| The center-fire rifle most commonly used for marksmanship training and competition in the United States is the AR-15, arbitrarily defined as an "assault weapon" under the former Clinton Gun Ban and currently under some states' laws. |

Tips and Tricks
For most people, building a fire using primitive means is not an option in an emergency. Always carry matches and lighters in some type of waterproof bag. As added security a flint-and-steel set will work even if soaked.
Reckless Lawsuits
The legislatures of 33 states have passed laws prohibiting reckless lawsuits—attempts to hold manufacturers responsible for the criminal misuse of their non-defective products by third parties—against the firearms industry.
To Keep And Bear Arms
The Supreme Court observed in U.S. v. Verdugo-Urquidez (1990) "`the people` seems to have been a term of art employed in select parts of the Constitution. The Preamble declares that the Constitution is ordained and established by `the People of the United States.` The Second Amendment protects `the right of the people to keep and bear Arms,` and the Ninth and Tenth Amendments provide that certain rights and powers are retained by and reserved to `the people.`"
